Market Square (El Mercado)

Market Square (El Mercado) is a three-block historic plaza and Mexican marketplace in downtown San Antonio centered at the El Mercado building. The present market building dates to the early 20th century and was rehabilitated to house shops, restaurants, and cultural events that reflect the city's Mexican-American heritage. The site has been associated with commercial and community life in San Antonio since the 19th century.
