The Astor Place 'Alamo' Cube (Tony Rosenthal sculpture)

The Astor Place Cube, officially titled 'Alamo' and created by sculptor Tony Rosenthal, was installed at Astor Place in 1967. The large black metal cube is mounted on one corner and is known for being spun by passersby and serving as a popular photo subject. Images and short videos of the rotating cube appear frequently on Instagram, travel blogs, and local social-media posts, making it a recurring internet-famous street-art landmark. The cube occupies the triangular plaza at Astor Place near NYU and Cooper Union.
