Mission Concepción and its Franciscan founders

Mission Nuestra Señora de la Purísima Concepción de Acuña (Mission Concepción) was established by Franciscan missionaries in the 18th century, with Fray Antonio de Olivares among the key figures involved in the region's mission program. The mission's church retains much of its original colonial-era fabric and murals, making it one of the best-preserved unrestored mission churches in the United States. It is part of the San Antonio Missions, which collectively document the Franciscan role in the area's colonial history.
