West Winch Windmill

West Winch Windmill, located in the village of West Winch, Norfolk, is a historic grade II listed building dating back to 1821. Originally a functioning windmill, it features a striking brick construction and stands over five storeys tall. The mill was equipped with a gallery stage and had a unique cap made of ogee planking with a six-bladed fan. Although it ceased operations in 1936 and fell into disrepair, restoration efforts began in the 1970s, leading to the replacement of its cap and the installation of a working fantail. Today, the windmill serves as a private residence, with its cap currently awaiting repair, making it a fascinating site for tourists and researchers interested in industrial heritage and architectural history.
