Hôtel Grimod de La Reynière

The Hôtel Grimod de La Reynière, built in 1775 in a Neo-Classical style, was a historic mansion located in Paris at the intersection of Avenue Gabriel and Rue Boissy d'Anglas. Designed by architect Jean-Benoît-Vincent Barré for tax-farmer Laurent Grimod de La Reynière, the mansion featured grand salons, state rooms, and an English garden, showcasing a unique decorative scheme inspired by archaeological discoveries from Pompeii. The interior included a picture gallery and library, with notable artworks that have since been relocated to the Victoria and Albert Museum. Although it served various artistic and cultural functions until the 19th century, the original structure was demolished in 1932 and replaced by a neoclassical building that now houses the US embassy, making it a point of interest for both tourists and researchers exploring Parisian history and architecture.
