National Museum of African American Music

The National Museum of African American Music opened in downtown Nashville in January 2021 and is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the musical contributions of African Americans. Its exhibits document genres such as blues, gospel, jazz, R&B, hip-hop, and their influence on country and popular music through artifacts, recordings, and interactive displays. The museum was established to provide a comprehensive national-level narrative of African American music history located within Nashville's music district.
