General Porter House

The General Porter House, located at 32-34 Livermore Street in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, is a historic double house built around 1751. This well-preserved example of a Portsmouth gambrel-roofed structure has housed notable figures, including Matthew Livermore, New Hampshire's first formally-educated lawyer, and General Fitz John Porter, a prominent Army general. Now converted into residential condominiums, the house showcases distinctive architectural features such as a central entrance with a rounded pediment and multiple dormers. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985, making it an interesting site for both tourists and researchers interested in American history and architecture.
