Russian Mission Residency

The Russian Mission Residency, located in the Riverdale community of the Bronx, serves as the residence for diplomatic workers of the Russian Federation's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Built in 1974, this 20-story building features 240 apartments for Russian residents, along with facilities such as a school, auditorium, gymnasium, playground, theater, and shops. The construction utilized an innovative top-down method to ensure stability, and the project symbolizes cooperation between the USSR and the U.S. Cultural exchanges have flourished here, including interactions between Russian students and local American high schoolers, making it a unique site for diplomacy and cultural engagement in New York City.
