Yellow River Station

The Yellow River Station is a Chinese scientific research facility located in Ny-Ålesund, Svalbard, Norway, established in 2003 by the Polar Research Institute of China. It focuses on various Arctic research areas, including the Aurora Borealis, glacier monitoring, and biogeochemistry. In 2024, research expanded to glaciology, ecology, and space physics. Operated by the China Research Institute of Radio Wave Propagation, the station also engages in atmospheric and ionospheric studies. While it serves important scientific purposes, there are concerns regarding its potential dual-use for military intelligence.
