Feldkirch Sickhouse

The Feldkirch Sickhouse, or Siechenhaus, is a historically significant monument located in Feldkirch, Austria, dating back to the 14th century when it was originally established as a leprosy house. The current buildings, constructed in the late 16th or early 17th century, feature a unique timber-framed facade, a rarity in the region. Over the centuries, the Sickhouse has served various purposes, including as an emergency shelter for education and accommodation for impoverished families. Since 1985, it has been transformed into a youth hostel, recognized as one of the finest in Vorarlberg. The site is conveniently located near the Catholic Church of St. Magdalena and includes modern amenities such as a bus stop shelter and an underpass for easy access across the busy Reichsstraße.
