The Hive, Singapore

The Hive, also known as Learning Hub South, is a striking architectural landmark at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, designed by renowned British designer Thomas Heatherwick and completed in 2015. With a budget of S$45 million, this innovative building features 12 eight-storey towers that resemble dim sum baskets, earning it the nickname 'dim sum basket building.' It houses 56 unique corner-less classrooms and is centered around a vibrant public atrium. The design incorporates 700 artistic drawings by British artist Sara Fanelli, showcasing themes from science, art, and literature. Although it has received mixed reviews, The Hive stands out as Heatherwick Studio's first major project in Asia and was a finalist for the 2015 World Architecture Festival Commercial Mixed-Use Award.
