Matrimandir

The Matrimandir, located in Auroville, Tamil Nadu, India, is a significant spiritual center for practitioners of integral yoga, conceived by Mirra Alfassa, known as The Mother. This striking golden sphere, surrounded by twelve gardens, symbolizes the 'Soul of the City' and serves as a meditation hall featuring the world's largest optically perfect glass globe. Construction began in 1971 and took 37 years to complete, with the Inner Chamber opening to visitors in 1994 and the main structure finished in 2008.
