California Tower at the Museum of Us: limited public access to a prominent lookout

The California Tower in Balboa Park, part of the Museum of Us (formerly the San Diego Museum of Man), was reopened to the public in 2015 after restoration but public visits are offered only through timed, ticketed tours with limited group sizes. Because access is by reservation and tours run on a restricted schedule, opportunities to reach the tower's observation areas and panoramic views of San Diego are comparatively hard to find without planning. The tower is historically significant and sits above the museum's El Prado entrance.
