Victor F. Lawson House YMCA

The Victor F. Lawson House is a historic former YMCA building located in Chicago's Near North Side, built in 1931 in the Art Deco style. Named after influential newspaperman Victor Lawson, it served as a vital community hub during the Great Depression, offering affordable housing and innovative family programs. After World War II, it became the headquarters for the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago. In 2014, it was sold with a commitment to continue providing affordable housing for at least 50 years. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2017, making it a significant landmark for both tourists and researchers interested in Chicago's architectural and social history.
