Seattle Underground (Pioneer Square subterranean passages)

After the Great Seattle Fire of 1889 the street level of Pioneer Square was raised, leaving original sidewalks and storefronts below grade; these subterranean spaces form the Seattle Underground. Guided tours explore preserved sections of those underground passageways and 19th-century foundations. The entrance for the commonly run historical Underground Tours is located at the historic tour office at this address.
