DOEE RiverSmart/green infrastructure rebates to reduce storm drain runoff

The District Department of Energy & Environment (DOEE) administers programs that provide rebates and technical assistance for green stormwater infrastructure-such as rain gardens, permeable pavers, and rain barrels-installed by homeowners to reduce runoff into storm drains. The RiverSmart Homes and related initiatives are specifically aimed at reducing the volume and pollutant load entering combined sewers and separate storm drains across the city. These programs fund installations and public outreach to manage stormwater at the source and improve water quality in local rivers. DOEE tracks and reports program participation and installed green infrastructure within the District.
