Upham's Corner Market

Upham's Corner Market is a historic commercial complex located at 600 Columbia Road in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood. Constructed between 1919 and 1926 by Italian immigrant brothers John and Paul Cifrino, the market evolved from a small grocery store established in 1915 into one of the city's first supermarkets, boasting 50,000 square feet of space. It served a local population of over 250,000, making it the largest store of its kind in Boston at the time. Today, the buildings have been repurposed for mixed commercial and residential use and were added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990, highlighting their significance in the community's history.
