Banco del Perú y Londres

The Banco del Perú y Londres, established in 1897, was a significant British-Peruvian bank located in Lima's historic center. Founded through the merger of the Bank of Callao and The London Bank of Mexico and South America, it played a crucial role in the Peruvian economy by providing loans to the government and operating branches across the country. Designed by architect Julio Ernesto Lattini, its headquarters is now part of the Congress of Peru. Despite its prominence and substantial assets, the bank faced bankruptcy during the political turmoil of the 1930s, marking a pivotal moment in Peru's financial history.
