Henry I. Harriman House

The Henry I. Harriman House, located at 825 Centre Street in Newton, Massachusetts, is a stunning example of French château architecture, built in 1916 for power company executive Henry I. Harriman. This elegant 2+1⁄2-story stuccoed structure features a steep hip roof, a balustraded portico, and sunporches, showcasing the design talents of architect John Barnard. Now part of the Boston College Law School campus, it was previously known as Putnam House in honor of benefactor Roger Lowell Putnam. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990, the house reflects the rich history of suburban estates in the early 20th century and offers a glimpse into the architectural heritage of the area.
