House of the Temple (Scottish Rite headquarters)

Designed by architect John Russell Pope and completed in 1915, the House of the Temple is the headquarters of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Southern Jurisdiction. Its neoclassical, mausoleum-inspired massing and carved ornamentation reflect classical revival influences and American monumental fraternal architecture of the early 20th century. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
