Samuel S. Jones Cobblestone House

The Samuel S. Jones Cobblestone House, a striking example of Greek Revival architecture, is located in Clinton, Wisconsin, and was built in the late 1840s. This historic farmhouse features unique cobblestone construction with carefully matched stones on the front and varied stones on the sides and back. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978 and is notable for its architectural details such as low-pitched roofs and cornice returns. The house has a rich history, having been owned by Samuel S. Jones, a New Yorker who settled there after marrying Margaret Richardson, and later passed down through his family. As of 1977, it was recognized as the largest of thirteen cobblestone houses remaining in Rock County, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in 19th-century American architecture and local history.
