Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University

Founded in 1812, the Academy of Natural Sciences is one of the oldest natural-history museums and research institutions in the Americas. Its museum building on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway houses long-standing scientific collections, historic taxidermy displays, and preserved type specimens that document 19th- and 20th-century natural-history practice. The institution's collections and exhibition infrastructure have been in continuous public use for more than two centuries and reflect the development of museum science in Philadelphia.
