Museum of History & Industry (MOHAI) - former Naval Reserve Armory adaptive reuse

MOHAI relocated in 2012 to Lake Union Park and occupies the rehabilitated former Naval Reserve Armory, a brick and timber structure originally built in 1919. The renovation preserved the armory’s historic character while adding modern gallery spaces for exhibits on Seattle and regional history. The site overlooks Lake Union and integrates maritime and industrial collections into its interpretation of local development.
