Derbydown Homestead

Derbydown Homestead, also known as the Abraham Marshall House, is a historic site in West Bradford Township, Pennsylvania, notable for its rich history and architectural evolution. Originally built in 1707 as a modest stone structure, it underwent significant expansions in 1764, transforming into a larger home with a gable roof. The property is linked to Abraham Marshall, a key figure in the establishment of the Bradford Friends Meetinghouse, which operated from the house in the early 18th century. It is also the birthplace of renowned botanist Humphry Marshall. The homestead, featuring a distinctive gambrel-roofed barn, was recognized for its historical significance by being added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, making it a fascinating destination for tourists and researchers interested in early American history and botany.
