John Garth House

The John Garth House, also known as Woodside Place, is a historic Second Empire style home located near Hannibal, Missouri. Built around 1871, this impressive 2+1⁄2-story dwelling features distinctive architectural elements such as mansard roofs, a projecting tower, and multiple porches. Originally constructed as a summer retreat for John H. Garth, a notable local figure and friend of author Samuel Clemens, the house now operates as the Garth Woodside Mansion Bed and Breakfast Inn, offering visitors a chance to experience its rich history and charm. The property was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.
