USS Midway Museum (Aircraft Carrier Midway)

USS Midway (CV-41) was commissioned in 1945 and served as an active U.S. Navy aircraft carrier until decommissioning in 1992; it is preserved as the USS Midway Museum. The ship was brought to its downtown San Diego berth and opened as a museum in 2004, featuring restored aircraft and exhibits about carrier operations and life at sea. The Midway is one of the longest-serving U.S. aircraft carriers of the 20th century and is displayed on Navy Pier along San Diego Bay.
