Assassination of Abraham Lincoln at Ford's Theatre

On April 14, 1865, President Abraham Lincoln was shot by actor John Wilkes Booth while attending a performance in the presidential box at Ford's Theatre. Lincoln was shot once in the head and rendered unconscious at the theater. Booth fled the scene and was later killed after a manhunt; Lincoln was taken across the street to the Petersen House where he died the next morning.
