Project Row Houses (unique community-based art project)

Project Row Houses is a long-running community-based art and cultural initiative in Houston's Third Ward that began in 1993 when artist Rick Lowe and collaborators purchased and rehabilitated shotgun houses for use as art spaces and community programs. The project combines artist residencies, public exhibitions, and social services within restored historic houses, and is recognized as a distinctive model of arts-led neighborhood revitalization. It operates public programs for neighborhood residents and visitors and has been the subject of national arts and urban studies attention.
