Renwick Gallery (Smithsonian American Art Museum)

The Renwick Gallery, housed in a 19th-century mansion designed by James Renwick Jr., opened in 1874 and now serves as the Smithsonian American Art Museum's branch for craft and decorative arts. The building was designated a National Historic Landmark and underwent a major renovation and reopening in 2015. Its galleries present rotating exhibitions of contemporary craft, decorative arts, and large-scale installations by living artists.
