Parachute Jump (Coney Island)

The Parachute Jump is a landmarked steel tower on Coney Island originally built for the 1939 New York World’s Fair and relocated to Steeplechase Park in Coney Island in the early 1940s. The ride ceased operating as an amusement attraction in the 1960s and has since stood as an illuminated, non-operational landmark and public visual installation on the boardwalk. The structure was designated a New York City landmark in 1989 and remains an iconic Coney Island feature.
