Demolition of the Singer Building

The Singer Building, completed in 1908 and once one of the world's tallest office buildings, was demolished in 1968 to make way for the construction of a modern office tower. Its demolition made it, at the time, the tallest building ever intentionally demolished. The loss of the building at that site is frequently cited in discussions about architectural preservation in New York City.
