The Smith Center for the Performing Arts opened in downtown Las Vegas in 2012 as a dedicated venue for classical, jazz, Broadway, and popular music performances. The Las Vegas Philharmonic is a resident orchestra and performs regularly at the Smith Center's Reynolds Hall. The center expanded Las Vegas's capacity for non-casino-based, large-scale concert programming.
