Freer Gallery - Whistler's Peacock Room installation

The Freer Gallery of Art houses James McNeill Whistler’s Peacock Room (installed as a museum interior), an ornate late-19th-century decorative ensemble relocated from a London dining room and reinstalled at the Freer. The room is a permanent part of the Freer’s collection and is presented as an example of Gesamtkunstwerk and historic interior installation within the Smithsonian Institution. The Freer Gallery interprets the Peacock Room in the context of Asian and Western decorative arts.
