Estouteville (Esmont, Virginia)

Estouteville is a historic house located in Albemarle County, Virginia, notable for its Roman Revival architecture. Constructed starting in 1827, the main house features a grand two-story central block with two single-story wings, all adorned with a Tuscan cornice and tall chimneys. The interior boasts a lavish Great Hall, measuring 23 by 35 feet. The estate also includes a kitchen/wash house, a dairy converted into a chicken house, a brick smokehouse from the mid-19th century, and former slave quarters. Recognized for its historical significance, Estouteville was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, making it a valuable site for tourists and researchers interested in American history and architecture.
