Compañía Marítima Building

The Compañía Marítima Building, also known as the Marítima Ruins, is a historic neoclassical structure located in Cebu City's port area, built in 1910. Once a bustling hub for travelers as the Shamrock Hotel and later the Compañía Marítima de Cebú, it played a significant role in the region's maritime history. Despite suffering damage during World War II and subsequent neglect, the building remains a notable landmark, reflecting early 20th-century architecture with its arched windows and ornamental details. Today, it stands roofless and in disrepair, yet it continues to attract interest due to its rich history and the ongoing ownership dispute between local authorities. The surrounding area has also been utilized as a temporary accommodation site for pilgrims during the Sinulog festival, adding to its cultural significance.
