Kingston Hall

Kingston Hall is a historic Georgian-style home located in Somerset County, Maryland, along the scenic Big Annemessex River. Built in 1755 by Thomas King, this two-story dwelling features distinctive corner fireplaces and transitional woodwork that reflects both late Georgian and Federal styles. The property originally encompassed 860 acres and included various outbuildings, showcasing the agricultural lifestyle of the era. Notably, Kingston Hall was home to prominent figures, including Thomas King Carroll, a former governor of Maryland, and his daughter Anna Ella Carroll, an advisor to Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in American history and architecture.
