Grow Heathrow

Grow Heathrow was a unique land squat and community garden located in Sipson, west London, established in 2010 by locals opposing the expansion of Heathrow Airport. This eco-friendly project featured off-grid living with solar panels and wind turbines, and included a meadow with allotments and greenhouses. It aimed to promote community resilience and serve as a symbol of resistance against ecological and economic challenges. Despite facing legal battles and evictions in 2019 and 2021, Grow Heathrow became a notable example of grassroots activism and community organization, attracting support from local politicians and activists.
