Old United States Mint (The Old Mint)

The Old United States Mint, completed in 1874 at 88 Fifth Street, served as the U.S. Mint for San Francisco and played a role in safeguarding gold reserves following the 1906 earthquake and fire. During its period of operation it contained secured vaults and minting operations that were restricted-access federal facilities. The historic building has been subject to preservation and adaptive reuse planning since its decommissioning.
