Mount Breckan

Mount Breckan is a historic 38-room residence located in Victor Harbor, South Australia, originally built in 1881 in the Gothic Revival style. Once one of Australia's largest homes, it features a five-storey tower and extensive grounds. Initially a summer retreat for politician Alexander Hay, the estate faced tragedy with a fire in 1908 and the loss of family members in a maritime disaster. After various transformations, including a guest house and a rehabilitation facility, it fell into disrepair by the 1990s. However, it was restored in 1996 and now serves as a private residence and venue for accommodations and events, making it a unique destination for tourists and researchers interested in Australian history and architecture.
