Helsinki Old Church

The Old Church of Helsinki, completed in 1826 and designed by Carl Ludvig Engel, is the oldest existing church in central Helsinki. Originally intended as a temporary structure due to the growing congregation, it features neoclassical wooden architecture and houses significant furnishings, including a historic pulpit and an altarpiece by Robert Wilhelm Ekman. Located in Old Church Park, the site has a rich history, having served as a cemetery where victims of the 1710 plague are buried.
