Bronx Zoo

The Bronx Zoo opened in 1899 and, at approximately 265 acres, is one of the largest metropolitan zoos in the United States with extensive naturalistic habitats and wildlife conservation programs. The zoo's notable exhibits have included the Congo Gorilla Forest, JungleWorld, and seasonal butterfly and sea lion presentations, and it operates programs in wildlife research and global species conservation. The Wildlife Conservation Society, which manages the Bronx Zoo, also oversees several other New York zoological and aquarium institutions.
