Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) - historic art school and museum

PAFA, founded in 1805, is the oldest art museum and school in the United States and maintains a museum collection of American art, including major works by Thomas Eakins and other 19th- and 20th-century artists. The Furness-Hewitt–designed building on Broad Street is itself recognized for its architectural significance and hosts exhibitions, lectures, and classes used by local artists and students. PAFA combines ongoing art education with public programming that serves Philadelphia's cultural community.
