San Francisco City Hall dome

San Francisco City Hall at 1 Dr Carlton B Goodlett Pl is a Beaux-Arts landmark with a dome that is taller than the U.S. Capitol dome and is one of the largest masonry domes in the world. The building was completed in 1915 to replace the original city hall and underwent a major seismic retrofit and restoration after the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, reopening in 1999. City Hall remains the seat of San Francisco's government and hosts civic ceremonies and public events.
