Palace of Fine Arts

The Palace of Fine Arts was originally constructed for the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition and is one of the few surviving structures associated with that event. The original was intended as a temporary structure; the existing rotunda and colonnades are a reconstruction carried out in the mid-20th century using more permanent materials, and later preservation work maintained the lagoon and surrounding park. The site is frequently used for public events and as a photographic landmark.
