River Oaks Theatre

River Oaks Theatre opened in 1939 as a neighborhood movie palace and later became known as Houston's primary repertory and art-house movie theater. The venue has long been associated with screenings of foreign, independent, and classic films and retains a prominent neon marquee that marks its presence on West Gray. Community efforts to preserve and maintain the theater have been a recurring feature of its recent history.
