National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden

The National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden opened in 1999 as a landscaped outdoor gallery on the National Mall, managed by the National Gallery. It features permanent and rotating modern and contemporary sculpture, including Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen’s Typewriter Eraser, Scale X, installed as a prominent outdoor work. The garden includes a central fountain and a seasonal program of exhibitions and public events.
