Fort Mason Center (former U.S. Army port facilities)

Fort Mason occupies a cluster of former U.S. Army port and supply facilities on the northern waterfront that were central to San Francisco's role as a military embarkation point during the 20th century. The site served as the San Francisco Port of Embarkation for the U.S. Army and handled troop and materiel movements in both world wars. After military use ended, many of the historic buildings were rehabilitated and now house the Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture, hosting nonprofit arts organizations, markets, and public events.
