Forsyth County Courthouse (North Carolina)

The Forsyth County Courthouse, located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, is a historic landmark built in 1926, showcasing a stunning Beaux-Arts architectural style with limestone cladding. This three-story building incorporates elements from an earlier Romanesque Revival courthouse dating back to 1896. After undergoing expansions in the late 1950s, it has since been converted into private apartments. The courthouse was recognized for its historical significance by being listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013. Notably, the Confederate Soldiers Monument that stood in front of the courthouse for decades was removed in 2019, marking a significant change in the site's historical narrative.
