Sam Brown Memorial State Wayside

Located in Browns Valley, Minnesota, the Sam Brown Memorial State Wayside is a historical park established in 1929 to commemorate frontiersman Sam Brown, who famously rode 55 miles to warn settlers of a Native American attack in 1866. The park features a significant log building from 1864, originally part of Fort Wadsworth, which was moved to the site by Brown's father. This building, recognized for its architectural and historical importance, is the only surviving log structure from Fort Wadsworth and serves as a testament to the region's exploration and military history.
