Portland Japanese Garden framed vistas

The Portland Japanese Garden, opened in 1963 in Washington Park, was designed to include intentionally framed viewpoints from its Strolling Pond Garden and upper garden terraces. Those designed vantage points offer secluded, composed views that can include downtown Portland and, when visibility allows, Mount Hood; the garden's layout emphasizes controlled sightlines and seasonal framing. The site is a publicly operated cultural garden with timed admission.
